Shazam! Fury of the Gods- Harpies

Sharing my final design work for the harpies in Shazam! Fury of the Gods. As a HUGE horror fan, I was beyond stoked when our director David Sandberg told us he wanted the harpies to be on the creepier side of things. In addition to both Shazam! films, David also directed Lights Out and Annabelle Creation so it was awesome being able to look back at his past horror work for inspiration.

We were originally playing around with something that was more bat-like so I got started on a version with a slightly different head and bat wings instead of feathers. It was later decided the harpies should be more bird than bat. David really liked the face of my initial version so I was tasked with figuring out how to retain what he was responding positively to while also shifting it in a more bird-like direction. Ended up with this rough concept sketch model that got the final buy off. Thanks for looking!
